Back Home: Sisi receives a gift from Putin Pharaonic funerary boat dating to 2100 B.C.

President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi received a gift from Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow, said spokesman for the presidency Ehab Badawi in a statement.

The gift is a model of a Pharaonic funerary boat, which dates back to 2100 BC, said Badawi. He pointed out that the Russian president gave the gift in person to President Al-Sisi during a banquet hosted by Putin.

The president directed that this significant gift be placed on display in Abdeen Palace museum, Badawi said.

He noted that Putin also gave Al-Sisi a unique photograph showing former president Gamal Abdel Nasser and former Soviet Union prime minister Nikita Khrushchev captured by the Associated Press news agency on 11 May, 1964.

Badawi said that President Al-Sisi was warmly welcomed at the airport by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and then headed for Sochi’s Olympic complex where he met with Putin for nearly 11 hours.
