News, Cairo: Minister - Grand Egyptian Museum important cultural project
The Grand Egyptian Museum is set to become one of Egypt’s most important cultural objects, it will support the national economy and boost tourism, Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh Al-Damati has said.
Damati, who attended a conference on tourism in France, said in a press statement that the museum is expected to receive five million visitors once it is completed in 2017. Damati added that this figure is expected to increase to eight million, in the first five years after the museum is opened.
The conference, which focused on tourism as an engine of economic growth in Mediterranean countries, also took up a partnership to promote tourism to Egypt.
